The creation of “the other” is ultimately a reflection of ourselves—an evasion of the truth that all humans share the same fundamental desires: to dream, to love, and to live inspired lives. The Tale of the Three Jewels, released in 1995, the year I was born, it was the first feature film ever shot in Gaza. It premiered at Cannes that same year. The film captures the enduring hope of displaced Palestinians—their unwavering desire for dignity, human rights, and the chance to create a life despite overwhelming hardship. In searching for what became of the actors in the years that followed, one is left to imagine the worst, as they never returned to the screen. Yet their presence lives on, immortalized in film. Their performances offer a window into the lives of those often seen as “others”—a reminder that they, too, are human, with the same capacity to feel, to dream, and to persevere.Latest campaign for @miloanddexter Thanks to the wonderful team of humans & sheep. In a world where we often feel powerless to change things for the better, I think we should all channel our inner sheep. There is another even lesser-known proverb that I have just made up that says "all sheep that wander are lost." I've been embracing my inner sheep this year and trying to embrace being lost when wandering through my pursuits. In doing so, I've attempted to steer all my endeavours where possible towards avenues that are inspiring and enriching. One particular endeavor at @miloanddexter led me down a literal sheep chase from coast to coast to revive the Canadian Wool industry that has been decimated over so many years. As if dealing with a broken Canadian garment industry wasn't crazy enough, the sheep chase has been even more mind-boggling. I met hundreds of people who still work in this industry and those who have taught me the value of wool beyond just making a livelihood. I would like to thank my dearest friends for listening to my endless rabbit hole monologues and special thanks to the many grannies along the way who are making the "farm to sweater" dream alive and still hanging by a thread.
