در این روز های سیاهِ ایران، یادآور عکس هایی شدم که در سال دو هزار و هجده از خانه‌ی مامان پری‌ام گرفتم. از گوشه هایی که برای من مقدس بودند (و هستند). هیچوقت فکر نمیکردم که این آخرین عکس هایی از خانه‌ایی که داخلش قد کشیدم باشد، و فکر نمیکردم تمام نفس های در این خانه رو از دست بدم.
این روز ها به خانه هایی فکر میکنم که مثل خانه‌ی مامان پریِ من دیگر قابل برگشتی بهشون نیست.
قلب اون خانه ها ربوده شده، به دست دزد های کثیف. دزد های کثیفی که نزدیک به پنجاه سال نه تنها به دنبال قلب هایمان، بلکه به دنبال دست درازی و نشانه گرفتن زبان، آداب، فرهنگ و “ایرانی” بودنمان بودن. این موجوداتِ بی‌وجود با خودِ انسانیت دشمنی دارند.
اما، فایل “خونه” دیلیت شدنی نیست. ایران، خانه‌ی ما خیلی قدیمی تر از این دزد های آواره هست. ریشه های دو هزار و پانصد ساله‌ی ما با هیچ سَم استبدادی از بین نمیرود.
ما فرزندان نوریم، حتی اگر سالها در تاریکی نگه داشته شده باشیم.
“دزد” هیچوقت صاحب خانه نمیشود.
و من ایمان دارم، به ناماندگاریِ تاریکی.

In these dark days for Iran,
I find myself returning to the photos I took in 2018 of my Maman Pari’s house
of the corners that were sacred to me
(and still are).

I never thought those would be
the last images of the home where I grew up,
and I never imagined
I would lose every breath that lived inside it.

These days, I think of all the houses
that, like my Maman Pari’s,
can no longer be returned to.
Their hearts have been stolen
by filthy thieves
thieves who for nearly fifty years
have not only hunted our hearts,
but reached for our language,
our customs,
our culture,
and our very “Iranian-ness.”

These hollow creatures
are enemies of humanity itself.

But “home”
is not a file that can be deleted.
Our home, our Iran is far older
than these wandering thieves.
Our 2,500 year old roots
cannot be destroyed
by any poison of tyranny.

We are children of light,
even if we have been kept
in darkness for years.

A thief
never becomes the owner of the house.

And I believe
in the impermanence of darkness.
