A night I’ll remember for a long, long time 🤍

There’s something so beautiful about sharing music in such an intimate space, sitting amongst people, looking into their eyes, feeling every reaction, and allowing the songs to exist exactly as they are.

My first Sofar in Kigali was more than a performance. It was a moment of connection, vulnerability, and pure love for music.

To everyone who sat, listened, sang along, smiled, and shared that little room with me, thank you 🫶🏾

Kigali you made this one special 🇷🇼✨

Until the next song…

#sofarkigali #livemusic #acoustic #nicolemusoni kigalIA few covers, a few moods… swipe through 🤍

Next Saturday, we take it offline …. original songs, familiar melodies and a room where everyone is free to simply be.

Come close. I’ll be singing for my queens.

#sofarkigali #kigalilivemusic #acousticsession #womeninmusic #rwandamusicNicole Musoni makes music that feels lived-in.

The Rwandan-Canadian singer-songwriter moves between Afro-R&B, soul and alternative African sounds, pairing warm melodies with writing that isn’t afraid to get personal. Her music carries the tension of belonging to more than one place … Montreal, Kigali, memory, home without ever needing to choose between them.

There’s vulnerability in Nicole’s world, but there’s also edge, rhythm and presence. She makes the kind of music that pulls you closer before you realize you’ve stepped inside her story.

On September 12, she makes her Sofar debut in Kigali… her first one, at home in Rwanda.

This feels like one of those “I saw her before…” moments.

»Grateful for moments that carry so much meaning 🇨🇦🇷🇼❤️

Honored to have been invited to perform at the High Commission of Canada in Rwanda, and especially to open the evening by singing the Canadian national anthem, alongside my talented brother @bill_ruzima , who performed the Rwandan anthem.

Thank you High Commissioner Julie Crowley for the invitation, and what a privilege to share this moment in the presence of Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe.

From this evening to other meaningful moments of representation and pride, I’m grateful for every opportunity to celebrate Rwanda … a place that carries my history, my roots, and so much of what I hope to build.

#canadianartist #madeinrwanda #rwandadiaspora #visitrwanda #rwandanartistOkay… so we disappeared 😭

But hear us out.

While Instagram thought we were gone, we were actually somewhere between sketching, designing, transforming, trying things, changing things, starting over, and figuring out what Binteji could become.

And this is a little glimpse into that process.

Taking pieces that already existed, putting the vision on paper, working with @uw_am_able , and watching an idea slowly become something I could actually wear.

That feeling?

That’s what we’ve been working on.

Over the past year and a half, I’ve been between Montreal and Rwanda, and this chapter has pushed me to think differently about what it means to build Bintēji.

We’re still curating the vintage pieces we love.

But now, we’re also taking pieces that already exist and reimagining, redesigning and upcycling them into something completely new.

And alongside that, we’re creating original Bintēji pieces from the ground up pieces imagined, designed and brought to life as our own.

But more than anything, we’ve always wanted to create at home.

To build something rooted here.
To create opportunities here.
To contribute, in our own way, to the growth of our country and its creative industry.

Because we believe in what can happen when we create for us by us 🇷🇼

It hasn’t been the easiest road. Life has been lifinggg😭

But God has been good.

And maybe this little disappearance was necessary.

Because we didn’t come back to Bintēji to do what we were doing before.

We came back to build something new from a place we call home, for a community we believe in.

Welcome back to Bintēji. Goshhh we missed you 🖤

The plot is just getting started.

Link in my bioWHEN I LOVE represents everything I want my music to stand for. We hear so many songs about heartbreak, but I wanted to celebrate a love that feels safe, joyful and deeply rooted in community. Growing up between cultures has taught me that love can look different, but its language is universal. Together with @mistaek_ , we blended English and Kinyarwanda over Afro-reggae roots to create something that feels honest to who we are. We filmed the video in a small Rastafarian village in Uganda because we wanted to capture the beauty of simple moments and everyday African life. I also wanted to embrace my natural beauty and show a version of African womanhood that feels real, confident and unapologetic. My hope is that you guys don’t just hear a love song you feel transported. I want y’all to smile, slow down, dance a little, and remember that the strongest love is built on kindness, reciprocity and choosing one another every day. If this song can make someone feel a little lighter or a little more hopeful, then we’ve done exactly what we set out to do.
